Billing Questions

The following are some of the most commonly asked billing questions:

Does Texas Endoscopy contact my insurance company for pre-certification/authorization?

Yes, we contact your insurance company prior to arrival. However, we encourage patients to do so as well so that your insurance company can answer any questions regarding your benefits. It is also the patient’s responsibility to make sure that all providers involved are in network.

What is my financial responsibility for my procedure(s)?

This amount is determined from the benefits quoted to Texas Endoscopy by your insurance company. Your estimated financial responsibility is due upon arrival to Texas Endoscopy. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We do not offer payment arrangements. You have 90 days to pay your balance in full after receiving your first statement, or your account will be turned over to an outside collection agency.

How does Texas Endoscopy determine my financial portion?

This amount is based on our contractual rate with your insurance company, not total billed charges.

Is the initial amount that is due at admission the final amount I will owe?

Not necessarily. You may have additional charges after the final insurance settlement. The initial quote of benefits from your insurance company does not guarantee payment to Texas Endoscopy. The final charges are determined at the time of your insurance company’s final settlement of charges. This settlement may result in additional charges or a refund to the patient.

How many bills can I expect to receive?

You could receive up to four different provider invoices, depending on which services are provided to you during your visit: Physician, Facility, Anesthesia, and Pathology.

Why did Texas Endoscopy bill my insurance company twice for my procedure?

Facility charges billed to your insurance company are based on the number and type of techniques that the physician performs during your procedure. These procedures are billed based on standardized national codes (CPT Codes) for medical billing.

When can I expect a refund?

Refunds are automatically issued to patients within 30 days of payment from your insurance company. We do not refund until payment is received from your insurance company and the final settlement is determined. We do not apply money back to credit cards as a form of refund.
